Gaya: A finance company employee was shot dead on Thursday night near Baseta village along the Dumaria-Patna State Highway-69 in Gaya district, Bihar. The assailants fired at his chest, leading to his death on the spot. The incident has triggered panic in the area.
Body and Two Motorcycles Recovered from the Scene
The deceased has been identified as 33-year-old Santosh Kumar Shah, a resident of Tilma village in Rohtas district. Upon receiving information about the incident, Imamganj police rushed to the scene and recovered two motorcycles near the victim’s body, which was found lying in a field beside the road.
SIT Formed for Investigation
The police recovered ₹49,000 in cash from the victim’s possession. Additionally, liquor bottles and glasses were found a short distance from the crime scene, raising suspicions. In response, Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) has formed a Special Investigation Team (SIT) to probe the case. Forensic Science Laboratory (FSL) experts and a dog squad have also been deployed for investigation.
Robbery Attempt or Dispute Over Drinking?
Initial investigations suggest that Santosh Kumar Shah might have been killed for resisting a robbery. However, another theory being considered is that the victim and the accused were consuming alcohol together, and a dispute might have led to the fatal shooting.
The criminals fled the scene after committing the crime, and the police have intensified efforts to track down and arrest the perpetrators.
