A First Information Report (FIR) has been registered against the makers of the web film ‘Ghuskhor Pandit’starring Manoj Bajpayee, following directives from Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath. The complaint, filed at Hazratganj Police Station in Lucknow, alleges that the film’s title and content aim to insult religious and caste-based sentiments—particularly those of the Brahmin community.
Police Statement:
The Lucknow Police Commissionerate stated that the film’s title was intentionally crafted to demean Brahmins. The content has sparked outrage among Brahmin groups and social organizations, who have warned of protests. Police assured strict action to maintain social harmony.
Controversy Following Teaser Release:
The dispute intensified after the film’s teaser was released. SHO Vikram Singh of Hazratganj police filed the FIR based on public complaints that the film maligns the image of the Brahmin community.
Producer Neeraj Pandey’s Clarification:
Producer Neeraj Pandey explained that the film is a fictional cop drama and the word “Pandit” is merely a character name, not intended to represent any real caste or community. He announced the removal of promotional content to avoid misinterpretation, urging viewers to understand the full storyline before judging the film.
Demands for a Ban:
Several groups have called for a ban on the film, alleging procedural violations in title approval and deliberate insult to Brahmins. Religious leaders from Braj region have also raised objections.

Directed by Ritesh Shah and produced by Neeraj Pandey, ‘Ghuskhor Pandit’ features Manoj Bajpayee as “Ajay Dixit,” a corrupt cop popularly known as “Pandit.” The film also stars Nushrratt Bharuccha, Saqib Saleem, Akshay Oberoi, and Divya Dutta. The story explores how a morally ambiguous police officer balances crime and justice on his own terms.
