FIR registered against Sunil Tiwari: Marandi seeks CBI probe

RAJ KUMAR

Ranchi, Aug.18: A case of sexual exploitation has been registered against Sunil Tiwari, who is the political adviser to the first chief minister and BJP legislature party chief, Babulal Marandi.

The FIR was registered at Argora police station. The complainant is a girl from Khunti, who used to work as a maid at the residence of Tiwary in Kadru one year ago, a police official said.

The Officer-in-charge of Argora police station, Vinod Kumar, could not be contacted for his comment on the matter when called at 10.51am and 5.01pm. S.P.(city), SSP, and DIG too did not take calls when attempting to talk to them for their version between 5 pm to 5.06 pm.

Marandi confirmed the development in a press conference saying it was done under a conspiracy hatched by the state government with the help of state police. He said that it is the fallout of a rape case registered by a girl in Mumbai against chief minister Hemant Soren and a CBI probe should be done in the matter.

Explaining further Marandi said: “As the matter was serious, I also asked Tiwari Ji to file an intervener petition in the matter at Mumbai High Court. After Tiwari filed a petition and the matter remained pending there for a long time, I asked him to knock on the door of the apex court. After he went to the apex court, threats started coming to him. Hearing, in this case, is expected within a week and in the meantime, this development has taken place suggesting how the state government is misusing police.”

Demanding a proper probe into the matter, Marandi said: “The matter should be properly investigated either by CBI or a sitting judge of Jharkhand High Court in the interest of justice. The Mumbai case should also be probed by the CBI to ascertain the truth.”

Meanwhile, a police official said the complainant was produced before the court for her statement after a medical examination. She, the police official said, in her FIR said that Tiwari established a physical relationship with her and also used to threaten dire consequences in case of objection.
