Jamshedpur, Sept 22: Within 24 hours of a girl was gangraped in Chaibasa mufassil thana area in West Singhbhum, the police arrested all the five accused setting an exampleof the police alacrity.
The victim who was fiancée of a local youth had attended a party thrown by her would-be husband at Barijal village in Chaibasa mufassil area on Thursday afternoon. But five of the invitees had committed the heinous crime by taking the girl away into a bush nearby the party venue.
As all had consumed liquor, including the host, the victim’s would-be husband came to know about the incident belatedly and had subsequently lodged an FIR with the Chaibasa mufassil thana against the culprits.
Revealing about the breakthrough, West Singhbhum SP Ashutosh Shekhar said as soon as the police got the complaint, a police party had rushed to the spot where the victim girl was lying traumatized.
“On being asked, the victim pointed out the names of all the five culprits who had outraged her modesty. She also informed that the culprits had taken away her mobile phone and the bag that contained cash after committing the gangrape, ” the SP said in a press statement on Friday.
According to the senior police officer, the five accused had assaulted the victim’s would-be husband when the latter had tried to rescue the victim from the clutch of the rapists.
Those who have been arrested are Vishal Purti (25), Singray Purti (43), Haricharan Padiya (33), Suleman Purti (22) and Haricharan Purti (30), all residents of Chaibasa mufassil thana area.
