Patna, Nov 23: Former Bihar Chief Minister and Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) leader Lalu Prasad Yadav appeared before Patna Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) court on Tuesday in connection with the fodder scam.
Notably, Lalu Yadav was granted bail in April this year by the Jharkhand High Court in the case of fraudulent withdrawal from Dumka Treasury, one of the cases related to the fodder scam for which he was convicted.
The Court had also imposed the condition to deposit two sureties of Rs 1 lakh each and a fine of Rs 10 lakh.
A total of 6 fodder scam cases are going on against Lalu Yadav, out of which five are in Ranchi special CBI court in Jharkhand and one case is going on in Patna CBI court. He has been convicted in 4 cases in Ranchi special CBI court and has also served a few years in jail. The case pertains to the fraudulent withdrawal of Rs 3.5 crore from the Dumka treasure by Animal Husbandry Department officials between 1991 and 1996 when Lalu Yadav served as the State’s Chief Minister.
