Patna, April 13: Jitan Ram Manjhi, the founder of the Hindustani Awam Morcha (HAM), and former chief minister of Bihar is scheduled to meet with Union Home Minister Amit Shah on Thursday in New Delhi.
The HAM leader will visit Amit Shah, according to sources, to seek Bharat Ratnas for former Bihar chief ministers Sri Krishna Singh and Karpoori Thakur as well as ‘Mountain Man’ Dashrath Manjhi
Politicians in Bihar are speculating about Jitan Ram Manjhi’s planned meeting with Amit Shah. Even while Jitan Ram Manjhi insists that his meeting with Amit Shah was not political, rumours about the Dalit leader’s strained relationship with Chief Minister Nitish Kumar are rampant. In advance of the 2024 Lok Sabha elections, he is likely to join the NDA.
The planned meeting between Jitan Ram Manjhi and Amit Shah is crucial since it occurs the day after Nitish Kumar met with Rahul Gandhi and the president of the Congress, Mallikarjun Kharge, in Delhi. During their conversation, both parties stressed the need of the opposition uniting ahead of the Lok Sabha election in 2019.
