Ranchi: Former ward councillor Mohammad Aslam, accused of attempting to murder a youth, was granted bail on Tuesday by the Jharkhand High Court. Justice Ambuj Nath approved his release on the condition of furnishing two personal bonds of ₹20,000 each. However, as Aslam is also a named accused in the August 10 Hindpiri “Sahil alias Kurkure” murder case, police are expected to arrest him again upon his release.
Accused in Hindpiri Murder Case
Police sources say that Aslam’s name in the recent murder case raises the likelihood of immediate re-arrest once he exits jail. The case has intensified scrutiny on his alleged involvement in multiple violent incidents in Ranchi.
January Attempt-to-Murder Allegation
Earlier, on January 23, a resident named Kaleem filed an FIR against Aslam and his brother Asif, accusing them of attacking Irshad alias Appu in Mojahid Nagar on January 22. The complaint alleged that Aslam and his associates fired shots at Irshad with intent to kill. The assault reportedly occurred after Irshad opposed a case of harassment, and a video of the incident later went viral on social media.
