New Delhi, Jan 22: Subhas Bhowmick, the former India footballer, died on Saturday in a hospital after a protracted illness, according to medical sources.
They claimed Bhowmick (72), also known as ‘Bhombolda,’ was hospitalised with diabetes and kidney problems and died at 3.30 a.m. on Saturday.
Bhowmick was a striker who represented India in various international games and played for East Bengal and Mohun Bagan.
He was a successful football coach who worked with East Bengal, Mohun Bagan, Mohammedan Sporting, Salgaocar, and Churchill Brothers, among others.
