Bengaluru: In a significant legal development from Karnataka, former JDS MP Prajwal Revanna has been convicted in a rape case by a special court that handles cases involving elected representatives. The court has announced that it will pronounce the sentence on August 2.
Convicted for Rape of Domestic Worker
Revanna was accused of raping a domestic worker employed at his farmhouse. The court found the charges credible and upheld the prosecution’s case. The victim had presented a sari as evidence and alleged that the former MP raped her twice. A video recording of the incident, made by the victim, also served as crucial evidence.
Revanna Breaks Down in Court
Following the verdict, Prajwal Revanna broke down in tears inside the courtroom and continued sobbing as he left the premises. The court’s decision comes 14 months after the First Information Report (FIR) was filed. He has been charged under multiple sections of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) and the Information Technology Act.
