Dhanbad, Nov 20: Four alleged coal thieves were killed and two others seriously injured in the exchange of fire that occurred around mid-night of Saturday-Sunday in Denidih coal siding of Bharat Coking Coal Limited (BCCL) Area-2 under Baghmara police station of the district.
A police official said both the injured identified as Badal Rawani and Ramesh Ram were first admitted at Shahid Nirmal Mahto Medical College Hospital (SNMMCH) where doctors referred them to Rajendra Institute of Medical Science (RIMS) Ranchi.
Half a dozen bikes were also seized on the spot left by the coal thieves after CISF Action. Superintendent of police ( Rural ) Reeshma Ramesan admitted that four coal thieves were killed and two injured in the firing of CISF.
The Police official said the incident took place at late night. The coal thieves in large numbers arrived at the Denidih coal siding on the bike for pilfering coal. As the CISF personnel on duty challenged them, the coal thieves who were in a large number than security personnel, started brick batting on them and damaged the CISF four-wheeler vehicle.
After getting the information, the CISF personnel from the camp also arrived on the spot. An exchange of fire took place in which four coal thieves died on the spot and two received bullet injuries. Having seen falling down their accomplices, the coal thieves fled away.
Getting information the police personnel of Baghmara and Rarora police stations also reached the spot and cordoned off the Denidih coal siding.
