Four die in road accident in Himachal’s Shimla

Shimla, June 28: A horrific traffic accident near Shalun Kaichi in the Shimla district of Himachal Pradesh claimed the lives of four persons and critically injured another, Rampur Police officials said.

The accident victims were driving an Alto back from a wedding when they lost their footing and plunged into a ditch 500 metres below the road. One young girl is in serious condition, while two young men and two young women all passed away instantly.

Avinash Manta, Suman, Himani and Sandeep, all residents of the village of Kukhi, have been identified as the victims who have passed away. Shivani, the deceased Himani’s elder sister, has been identified as the injured.

The injured and dead victims were brought back to the road by the police, fire brigade and locals.

According to Sub-Inspector Jaidev of the Rampur Bushahr Police Station, the accident was reported to him at 8 am on Wednesday, and his team arrived at the scene right away.

The car had fallen into a deep gorge about 500 meters below the road.

The bodies of the deceased passengers were collected by the authorities, while the injured passenger was sent to Rampur Bushahr’s Khaneri Hospital.

The cause of the accident could not be determined, the police said.
