Four run over by Duronto Express at Chakradharpur in West Singhbhum

Jamshedpur, Sept 1:  In a tragic incident, four persons including three women, were run over by Mumbai- Howrah Duronto Express while trying to save another woman crossing a railway track near South Eastern Railway’s Chakradharpur railway station in neighbouring West Singhbhum district this afternoon.

The incident took place at around 3.30 pm, while an old lady was trying to cross the track and another four persons tried to save her. They got run over by Dn 02095 CSMT – HWH Duranto Express near the home signal of Chakradharpur station.

According to railway police, they were trying to identify the bodies.

” All the four deceased belonged to Badabambo village. They were going to attend a local function when the tragic incident took place, ” said a Railway Police Force official.

He said the bodies were cut into pieces and they were being collected for post- mortem. All the deceased were in their mid-thirties.

This was the first such incident involving Duronto Express. The train moved towards Tatanagar railway station on way to Howrah.
