New Delhi, Oct. 19: Petrol prices stayed steady on Tuesday, October 19 for the second day in a row. Previously, the rates were raised for four days in a row to reach new highs. According to Indian Oil Corporation, a litre of petrol costs Rs.105.84 and a litre of diesel costs Rs.94.57 in the national capital.
Petrol is now 33% more expensive than aircraft turbine fuel (ATF or jet fuel), which is sold to airlines. ATF costs Rs.79,020.16 per kilolitre in Delhi, or about Rs.79 per litre.
In Mumbai, a litre of petrol costs Rs.111.77 , while diesel costs Rs.102.52. Petrol prices in Chennai have now surpassed the Rs.103 milestone, with a current price of Rs.103.01 per litre. According to the state-run oil refiner, Mumbai has the highest fuel prices of the four metro cities. Because of the value-added tax, or VAT, fuel prices vary by state.

Globally, oil prices dipped from multi-year highs touched on Monday. Brent crude lost 0.42 per cent to 83.97 a barrel and U.S. crude lost 0.24 per cent to 82.24 a barrel.
