Ranchi/Ramgarh: A gas tanker carrying LPG from Paradip to Kathmandu overturned in Ramgarh’s Chutupalu Valley early on Friday morning, causing a major traffic disruption on the Ranchi-Patna NH-33. The accident occurred near Gadke Mor, where the tanker lost control and toppled in the middle of the road, completely halting traffic in the valley area.
Immediate Response
Upon receiving the information, the Ramgarh Police rushed to the site with a full team and summoned hydras, cranes, and fire brigade vehicles to remove the overturned tanker. Fortunately, no gas leakage occurred, averting a potential disaster.
Driver’s Account of the Incident
The tanker driver explained that he had stopped at the top of the valley for tea before continuing his journey. As he entered the valley, he noticed a stationary trailer blocking the road. While attempting to pass, a speeding open trailer carrying railway slabs hit the tanker from the side and fled toward Hazaribagh. The impact caused the tanker to lose balance and overturn, landing in the middle of the road.
Traffic Resumption
Efforts by the police and emergency services ensured the safe removal of the tanker. Traffic on NH-33, which had been severely affected, gradually resumed after the road was cleared.
