‘Go back to India’: Texas woman arrested for threatening, assaulting Indians

New Delhi, Aug 26: A woman is heard shouting racist epithets at a group of Indian-American ladies in the restaurant’s parking lot in a video that is becoming viral on social media. The incident occurred outside the Sixty Vines restaurant in Plano, Texas.

The woman is shown hitting one person in the face, swiping at the phones of two of the women who were documenting the incident, and threatening to shoot them while reaching into her bag in the five and a half minute video.

The video shows her telling the group of women to “Go back to India. You… people are ruining this country,” the CBS News reported.

The lady was detained on Thursday and charged with assault, bodily harm, and making terroristic threats. She was identified as Esmeralda Upton in a news release by the Plano Police Department. She was being held under a bail of $10,000.

The incident is being investigated and is being treated as a hate crime; according to the press release, more charges could be filed.
