New Delhi, July 10: Congress in Goa is about to suffer a significant loss as Michael Lobo, the party’s legislative leader, and 9 other members are expected to re-join the Bharatiya Janata Party today.

Prior to the Goa Assembly Elections, Michael and his wife Delilah Lobo left the BJP in January of this year and joined the Congress. Devendra Fadnavis, the BJP’s in-charge of the Goa election in the wake of Lobo’s defection, asserted that Lobo left because the party was unwilling to nominate his wife for office.

Strongman from North Goa Lobo served as a minister in the Goa Cabinet and was in charge of the state port and waste management divisions. Congress chose Lobo to be the leader of the opposition in the state assembly after the BJP won a strong majority in Goa in the 2022 elections.

According to sources, the Calangute MLA would likely rejoin the saffron party today and be formally re-inducted.
