New Delhi: The government has officially debunked viral social media claims that former Vice President Jagdeep Dhankhar’s official residence was sealed or that he was forced to vacate immediately following his resignation. The clarification came through a fact-check issued by the Press Information Bureau (PIB) amid rising speculation.
PIB calls the viral claim “fake”
The Press Information Bureau’s Fact Check Unit stated clearly that the residence has not been sealed and termed the online reports as false. “It is being widely claimed on social media that Vice President’s official residence has been sealed and former VP has been asked to vacate his residence immediately. These claims are fake,” PIB posted on X. The clarification aimed to curb misinformation following Dhankhar’s resignation citing health concerns.
Dhankhar’s relocation already in motion
According to sources, Dhankhar began packing soon after submitting his resignation to the President on Monday evening. Officials confirmed that he is preparing to move to a designated Type VIII bungalow as per standard government norms for former vice presidents. Though ex-VPs are usually given 30 days to shift, Dhankhar is reportedly planning to leave the Vice President Enclave earlier than expected.
