Mumbai, March 22: Dharmesh Parmar, better known as rapper MC Tod Fod died at the age of 24. The reason of death for the young singer has yet to be revealed. Dharmesh was a member of the Mumbai-based hip-hop group Swadesi. Ranveer Singh and Siddhant Chaturvedi, who worked with him in Gully Boy, are devastated by his passing. Zoya Akhtar, the film’s director, is as well. To express their condolences to MC Tod Fod, the three took to Instagram.
Ranveer posted a photo of the rapper to his Instagram Story, along with a broken heart emoticon.
Siddhant also shared a screenshot of his discussion with the late Gujarati rapper, in which the two can be seen complimenting one other on their music and performances. He wrote, “RIP bhai,” along with a broken-heart emoticon.
Zoya Akhtar shared a post on Instagram and wrote, “You have gone way too soon. I can only be grateful our paths crossed. Rest in peace Bantai #mctodfod @todfod_”
Tod Fod and Swadesi, as well as other Indian hip-hop artists, appeared in Zoya Akhtar’s critically praised ‘Gully Boy,’ which is a coming-of-age drama about Mukhtar (played by Ranveer Singh), a hip-hop lover from the lower class who lives in Dharavi, Asia’s largest slum.
Notably, MC Tod Fod had written a verse for ‘India 91’, which was part of the film’s soundtrack.
