New Delhi, Jan 12: The Ministry of Information and Broadcasting’s Twitter account was hacked on Wednesday, January 12. The hackers changed the account’s identity to ‘Elon Musk’ and began tweeting messages like “great work”.
The ministry, on the other hand, regained control of the account after a short period of time, restoring the profile picture and deleting the hacker’s tweets. The hackers also used it to post some harmful links.
Similarly, Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s personal Twitter account was briefly hacked exactly a month ago, on December 12, 2021. Even though the account was quickly restored, a tweet advocating cryptocurrencies had already been sent from the account.
The Indian Council of World Affairs (ICWA), the Indian Medical Association (IMA), and Mann Deshi Mahila Bank (a microfinance bank) all had their Twitter accounts hacked on January 3. The hackers had also renamed the handle to ‘Elon Musk’ in that circumstance.
The fonts used to update the profiles’ names in today’s incident (January 12, 2021) and the January 3 incident appear to be the same. The ‘AMAZZZING’ uploaded information appeared to be similar, yet the links tweeted in the two incidents appeared to be different.
The Ministry of Information and Broadcasting on Wednesday later tweeted that the account had been restored.
The account @Mib_india has been restored. This is for the information of all the followers.
