VISHVENDU JAIPURIAR
Hazaribag, Feb 22: Doctors of Sheikh Bhikhari medical college and hospital went on a strike demanding an apology from deputy development commissioner Prerna Dikshit who is also the administrator of the hospital.
Doctors said Dikshit had called one of their colleagues Dr Vishal into her chamber and used objectionable language before ordering the guard to take him out. Doctors said what she did is not acceptable and will stay off work till she apologises for her conduct.
Dr Vishal in his complaint to the hospital superintendent said that Dikshit made her stand for half an hour in her chamber.
“When I sat on a chair, she lost her cool and used objectionable words for me. She forced me to get up from the chair,” added he.
He added that even on her order, an employee and bodyguard caught me by the collar and dragged me out of the cabin.
Dr Vishal, who went on leave, said he was in a state of shock.
“I am a doctor giving my best to my patients. But the way she behaved is a big shock for me,” added he.
However, Dikshit denied the charges and said when she asked Dr Vishal where he is at 12 noon yesterday, he said he was doing rounds. But when she asked for his live location, he told tell her that the association of doctors has asked them not to do so.
“Soon I came to know that instead of doing duty, he was in Ramgarh so I asked him to report to my office immediately. But he came at 2 PM,” she said.
She added that she has asked doctors to load an App which will make her updated about the live location of doctors but they are not doing so.
She said doctors are busy in private practice and the number of cases related to their negligence comes up that too when they are taking a hefty salary.
Moreover, Doctors returned to their work within 2 hours of their call for a strike. It was yet not clear as to what made them withdraw from the strike. Hospital superintendent Dr Binod Kumar and medical college principal SK Singh said there was anger among doctors.
“But we talked to them and told them to return to their work. There is no strike now,” the duo added.
