VISHVENDU JAIPURIAR
Hazaribag, Oct 12: A 48-year-old man Prem Dangi who went missing on Monday evening with his bike was washed away by the gushing water of a rain-fed river. The Chouparan police while probing his missing case found the bike in the river water which confirmed the theory of drowning. Dangi’s friend Dilip Turi contacted the police on Tuesday claiming that he was with him on that day and had a miraculous escape.
Prem Dangi was a resident of Neema village in Chouparan but constructed his house in neighbouring Bhrari village in Barachatti of Gaya in Bihar. He was a vegetable seller and so used to come to Chouparan every day on his bike to sell it in the local market.
While returning to Bhrari like on other days, he was crossing a bridge on the rain-fed Gohi river in Silodar with his friend Turi riding pillion on his bike. As the river water was flowing above the bridge due to heavy rain, Dangi lost control of the vehicle and the duo fell into the river. However, Turi somehow escaped.
Local BJP leader and Mukhiya representative Rajkumar Yadav said Prem’s family started searching for him after informing the Chouparan police. Finally, the police search ended at the Gohi river bridge where Prem’s bike was found.
Meanwhile, the search drive to trace the body is on. Even the villagers carried out a search to the Bihar border to find the dead body. Dangi’s family said what happened is a big setback for them. “We want his dead body,” they added. Police officials assured them of tracing the body as soon as possible.
