Hazaribag, Nov 23: Korra police on Wednesday arrested two mobile thieves and on their information nabbed a man who was running a mobile phone shop. The police recovered 16 stolen phones from his shop. Officer-in-charge Uttam Tiwary confirmed the arrest and said the trio was sent to judicial custody.
Sources said a mobile thief was caught by a lodge owner in the Korra area. Police were informed and they took the thief into their custody followed by his interrogation. He named his associate and was also arrested.
It appeared to police that the thieves were targeting a few mohallas including Korra, Babugaon, Matwari and Krishnapuri where large numbers of students are living in different lodges. They used to keep eye on a particular student and after getting an opportunity used to steal mobile phones kept in the lodge room.
Police officials said both the thieves have admitted selling stolen mobile phones in Om Telecom, a shop selling mobiles situated in the Babugaon area. A raid was carried out in the shop where police recovered 16 expensive mobile phones. The owner of the shop was also arrested.
Tiwary said the three arrested are identified as Aniket Kumar, Mohammad Aftab a.k.a Sonu and Pramod Kumar. After lodging FIR in different sections of IPC, the trio was sent to jail.
