Hazaribag, Dec 1: 25-year-old Binod Kumar Mahto, a resident of Madmo village in Vishnugarh block has been arrested and lodged in the jail of Dubai for not having a Visa.

As per the information, his visa expired a month ago. His family has now requested the state government to intervene in the matter saying that he is the sole breadwinner of the family and they lack the proper means to get him released from the jail of another country.

Binod’s wife Veena Devi said that he went to Dubai around three years ago to work in a construction company. She said his visa expired in February for which he was arrested a month ago. “I last talked to him on Nov 1 when he was returning to his room after finishing the work,” she said.

According to the family, Binod was the only breadwinner of the family taking care of his elderly parents as well as his wife and three-year-old son Anuj Kumar. “It is difficult for me to get him released from another country,” Veena added, urging the state government to take a step for the release of her husband.

Local social worker Sikandar Ali said that large numbers of migrant labourers face troubles in a lack of knowledge and get trapped in such difficulties in other countries. Government should take action in this regard.
