Ramgarh, July 14: A husband killed his wife to continue his illicit relationship with another woman in Hazaribagh’s Korra police station area.

Kunti, a resident of Tilir village of OP area under Hazaribagh district, was murdered by her husband Rakesh Mehta. She was killed and then buried in the forest.

A case was registered in Hazaribagh’s Korra police station and now the police have busted the matter.

Kunti, a mother of two, was married about five years ago to Rakesh Mehta, a resident of Sindoor.  Rakesh already had a love affair with a woman before his marriage.

After two years of marriage, Rakesh’s affair with his ex-girlfriend started again. Kunti started opposing it as soon as she came to know about it. Seeing his wife becoming an obstacle in the path of love, Rakesh decided to eliminate her from his life.

He killed Kunti five days ago on Saturday, July 9. Later, when Kunti’s parents called to talk to their daughter, Rakesh informed them that Kunti had run away with Rs 30,000 and her jewellery.

To cover up the murder, Rakesh also lodged a complaint in the Korra police station about his wife’s disappearance. Afterwards, the relatives of the deceased gave detailed information about Kunti and Rakesh’s character and deeds at the Korra police station after her whereabouts could not be traced.

When the police started interrogation by taking Rakesh into custody, the mystery of the murder came to light.  He confessed that he had killed Kunti by strangulating her and buried the body in the Kadwa forest.

On the traces of Rakesh, the police kept searching for the dead body in the Kadwa forest for hours. After a lot of effort, the body was recovered.  Police have now sent the body for postmortem and forwarded the accused to judicial custody.
