Ranchi: The Jharkhand High Court has postponed the hearing on a public interest litigation (PIL) seeking an investigation into the alleged infiltration of people of Bangladeshi origin and land jihad in the Santhal Pargana region. The hearing is now scheduled for November 13.
During Tuesday’s proceedings, the state government informed the court that a Special Leave Petition (SLP) has been filed in the Supreme Court against the High Court’s previous order. As the SLP has not yet been listed for hearing, the High Court bench comprising Chief Justice and Justice Sujit Narayan Prasad decided to defer the hearing until the Supreme Court takes up the matter.
The PIL was filed by Jamshedpur resident Danial Danish, who sought an inquiry into the infiltration. Advocate General Rajeev Ranjan, along with his colleague Piyush Chitresh, represented the state government during the hearing.
