Mangaluru, May 25: After right-wing organisations performed ‘Tambula Prashne’ at Sri Ramanjaneya Bhajana Mandira in Malali on Wednesday morning, a large number of police officers were deployed at Malali Juma Masjid in Mangaluru.
Section 144 will be in effect within a 500-meter radius of the Juma Masjid in Mangaluru till 8 a.m. on May 26.
Meanwhile, this morning at Sri Ramanjaneya Bhajana Mandira in Malali, the Vishva Hindu Parishad (VHP) and Bajrang Dal performed ‘Tambula Prashne.’
“The district administration is monitoring everything. In the vicinity of the Masjid, Section 144 has been imposed,” Karnataka Home Minister Araga Jnanendra stated.
Notably on April 21, a Hindu temple-like architectural design was uncovered beneath an old mosque on Mangaluru’s outskirts.
The issue came to light during renovations at the Juma Masjid in Malali, on the outskirts of Mangaluru. The mosque authorities were in charge of the renovations. Following this, several individuals have speculated that the location may have once been home to a Hindu temple. VHP leaders had urged the district government to halt construction until the documents could be confirmed.
