Ranchi: Jharkhand Chief Minister Hemant Soren has achieved a historic milestone by becoming the first elected tribal leader from India to participate in the World Economic Forum (WEF) Annual Meeting in Davos, where he was conferred the prestigious White Badge in recognition of his leadership and transformative work in the state.
White Badge: A Global Leadership Honour
The White Badge is awarded to a select group of global leaders and provides full and equal access to the World Economic Forum Congress Centre and all exclusive WEF events. It is regarded as a rare and distinguished honour typically reserved for heads of state and government leaders. The conferment of this badge on Chief Minister Hemant Soren places Jharkhand prominently on the global leadership platform.
Global Recognition for Jharkhand’s Transformation
WEF representatives acknowledged the transformative initiatives undertaken in Jharkhand under Chief Minister Soren’s leadership. They noted that the recognition reflects global appreciation for the state’s development trajectory, inclusive governance model, and forward-looking vision. The Congress Centre where the badge was awarded is also expected to host several world leaders, including the President of the United States, highlighting the stature of the forum.
WEF Keen on Long-Term Partnership With Jharkhand
Senior WEF representatives Shailesh and Anoop conveyed that the World Economic Forum is keen to develop a long-term partnership with Jharkhand. They praised the Chief Minister’s formal communication to the WEF leadership, describing it as a reflection of Jharkhand’s clarity of vision, seriousness of purpose, and commitment to global engagement.
Focused Discussions on Global Priority Areas
During meetings in Davos, detailed discussions were held on key global themes such as critical minerals, resilient and inclusive societies, climate action, and energy transition. These interactions aimed at aligning Jharkhand’s priorities with global best practices and future collaborations.
Invitation for Deeper Engagement
WEF representatives invited Chief Minister Hemant Soren to visit the World Economic Forum site and expressed interest in continued dialogue. It was also indicated that the WEF President is keen to explore future collaborative opportunities with Jharkhand, strengthening the state’s global connect further.
