Ranchi: The Jharkhand High Court on Monday completed the hearing on the bail plea of suspended IAS officer Vinay Choubey, who is currently in jail for alleged involvement in the illegal sale and purchase of Sevayat land during his tenure as Deputy Commissioner of Hazaribagh. After hearing arguments from both the Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) and Choubey’s counsel, the court reserved its judgment.
Bail Rejected Earlier by Special Court
Choubey’s bail was earlier rejected by the ACB Special Court in Hazaribagh on 16 September. The case was registered as FIR No. 9/2025 by the ACB in August, and Choubey approached the High Court after being denied relief by the lower court.
Arguments Presented Before the High Court
The hearing took place in the court of Justice Sanjay Kumar Dwivedi. Special Public Prosecutor Sumit Garodia argued on behalf of the ACB, while senior advocate R.S. Majumdar represented Choubey. The ACB has already submitted a charge sheet against Choubey in this matter. A decision on the bail plea is expected to be delivered on Tuesday.
