New Delhi, Nov 27: The Himachal Pradesh police detained two people on Sunday for allegedly possessing 40 grams of heroin, in accordance with the relevant provisions of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act.
The people who were detained have been named as Jagjit and Ankush Chauhan, who both reportedly reside in Shimla’s Nankhari. The Special Investigations Unit (SIU) of the Shimla Police announced in a statement that they had found 39.83 grams of heroin on the arrested suspect.
They have been arrested under sections 21 (Punishment for contravention in relation to manufactured drugs and preparations) and 29 (Punishment for abetment and criminal conspiracy) of the NDPS Act and a case has been registered against them.
Further investigation is underway.

On November 22, the Shimla Police reported that they had detained a man named Mahaveer and found 16.80 g of charas and 1.32 g of heroin in his possession.
Shimla police claim that the accused Mahaveer, a local, worked as a history sheeter and that a total of 11 cases have been filed against him in various Police stations.
On November 17, Shimla Police found Somra Uraw in possession of 600 g of opium, 98.60 gms of charas, and Rs 71,000 in cash.
