Ranchi/Hazaribagh: The Hazaribagh ACB court will pronounce its order on September 16 regarding the bail plea of suspended IAS officer Vinay Choubey, accused in the Sevayat land scam during his tenure as Hazaribagh deputy commissioner. The court had reserved its verdict after a detailed hearing on Friday, during which arguments from both the Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) and the defence were completed.
Arguments Presented in Court
Choubey’s counsel, advocate Shankar Banerjee, presented the defence case, while special public prosecutor Abhishek Krishna Gupta argued on behalf of the ACB. The bail petition relates to an FIR lodged in August, registered as case number 9/2025 by the ACB. The outcome is being closely watched as it could significantly impact Choubey’s legal standing in the high-profile matter.
Previous Cases Against the Officer
Vinay Choubey has previously been named an accused in the Jharkhand liquor scam. However, he was granted bail in that case after the investigating agency failed to submit a chargesheet within the stipulated timeframe. The upcoming order on his bail in the Sevayat land case will determine whether he remains in custody or gains temporary relief while the probe continues.
