New Delhi, Dec 28: Following their contributions to India’s victory over Bangladesh in the second Test at Mirpur on Wednesday, Ravichandran Ashwin and Shreyas Iyer saw huge increases in the ICC rankings.

After taking six wickets in the game, Ashwin has risen one spot to tie for fourth place with colleague Jasprit Bumrah.

Following a key unbeaten effort of 42 in the second innings that permitted a three-wicket victory and earned India crucial WTC points, he has also climbed three spots to 84th among batters.

The No. 1 bowler and all-rounder in the past, Ashwin now has seven rating points in the rankings for all-rounders, which are headed by his countryman Ravindra Jadeja. Currently, Jadeja has 369 rating points while Ashwin has 343.

Iyer has achieved a career-best 16th position after partnering with Ashwin for an uninterrupted 71 runs to lead the side to victory. Iyer improved from his previous high standing of 26th thanks to his scores of 87 and 29 not out.

Cheteshwar Pujara dropped three spots to be in 19th rank despite winning player of the series in Bangladesh, and seasoned batter Virat Kohli dropped two spots from 12th to 14th following a dismal series.

The top-ranked Indian batsman, Rishabh Pant, remains in sixth place after receiving three rating points thanks to his 93 in the first innings, while fast bowler Umesh Yadav has moved up five spots to 33rd after taking five wickets overall.

After scoring 25 and 73, Bangladeshi batsman Litton Das moved up to a career-high position of 12 in the rankings. Mominul Haque, Zakir Hasan, and Nurul Hasan all made gains as well, moving up five, seven, and five spots, respectively, to 68th, 70th, and 93rd.

Spinners Taijul Islam and Mehidy Hasan Miraz each moved up two ranks to take over the 28th and 29th spots, while skipper Shakib Al Hasan moved up one spot to take over the 32nd position. Mehidy and Shakib both finished the game with six wickets, while Taijul got a four-wicket haul in the first innings.
