Ranchi, Sept 24: A special committee of the assembly has been formed after the question raised by a legislator of the ruling Jharkhand Mukti Morcha in the monsoon session regarding illegal purchase and sale of tribal land. The Jharkhand government has started looking alert about the sale of tribal lands being illegally happening in the state. Senior JMM MLA Professor Stephen Marandi has been made the convener of the committee. At the same time, Lobin Hembrom, Dr Lambodar Mahto, Ramchandra Singh, Kedar Hazra have been included as members. According to sources, a proposal has been prepared regarding the committee, the notification of which will be issued in the next one or two days after the consent of Speaker Rabindranath Mahto.
In the last monsoon session, JMM MLA Lobin Hembrom had raised the matter in the House saying that thousands of acres of tribal land have been illegally bought and sold in the state. The provisions of the CNT and SPT Acts have been violated in this purchase and sale. He had even said that the local administration has also been complicit in the illegal purchase and sale of tribal lands. After the question raised by the MLA of the ruling party, Chief Minister Hemant Soren had also expressed concern over this. He had said that soon a special committee of the assembly will be formed and the matter will be investigated fairly.
