New Delhi, Oct 11: Raids are being conducted by the Income Tax Department in Bihar on Ahmad Ashfaque Karim, a Rajya Sabha MP for the Rashtriya Janta Dal (RJD).
Early this morning, a search operation encompassing more than two dozen properties linked to the Member of Parliament (MP) commenced.
According to sources, searches are currently being conducted at the Katihar Medical College, Al-Karim University, and Al-Karim Educational Trust in Patna.
Karim, who is currently an RJD member, was chosen as a candidate for the biennial Rajya Sabha elections that took place in March 2018.
In the previous year, Ahmad Ashfaque Karim was the subject of a Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) raid related to their investigation into the land-for-job scam.
According to sources, the income tax department possesses reliable information regarding suspected tax evasion involving the educational institutions owned by Karim.
Sources mentioned that the Income Tax investigators also have details about cash donations allegedly accepted by the college in exchange for admissions to the medical college.
