Mumbai, Dec 5: On Sunday, India declared their second innings at 276/7 to set New Zealand an victory target of 540 on the third day of the second Test in Mumbai.

Mayank scored a 62, while Cheteshwar Pujara and Shubman Gill made 47 each. Axar Patel managed 41 off 26 balls with four sixes and three fours. Resuming at 142/2 post lunch Shubham Gill kept the scoreboard moving along with Virat Kohli and the duo took India’s total beyond the 150 run mark.  The duo hardly faced any difficulty in facing the Kiwi spinners. Moving forward, Kohli and Gill took India’s lead beyond the 450 run mark.

Meanwhile, the Indian right-handed batter Mayank Agarwal was hit on his right forearm and now will not be taking the field in the second innings of the ongoing test.

UPDATE – Mayank Agarwal got hit on his right forearm while batting in the second innings. He has been advised not to take the field as a precautionary measure.

Shubman Gill got a cut on his right middle finger while fielding yesterday. He will not be taking the field today.

Shubhan Gill will also not be taking the field after being hit during fielding in the first innings on Saturday.

On the other hand, Kiwis once again did not get a good start as Ashwin dismissed Tom Latham leg before wicket for just 6 with only 13 runs on the board. Daryl Mitchell and Will Young added 32 runs for the second wicket to bring the team’s innings back on track, but Ashwin gave India a second breakthrough by dismissing Young (20). With Young’s wicket, R Ashwin also became the first bowler to take 50 Test wickets this year. After this, in his very next over he took the wicket of Raul Taylor (6) and delivered the third blow to NZ. Axar removes well-set Mitchell on a score of 60.
