Dubai, Dec 31: The  match of ACC U19 Asia Cup 2021 between India and Sri Lanka at the Dubai International Stadium has been paused on Friday due to heavy rain.

India used disciplined bowling to put Sri Lankan batters on the back foot. Ravi Kumar and Raj Bawa each took a wicket, allowing only eight and nine runs, respectively. Kaushal Tambe has added to the islanders’ woes, taking two wickets in his first three overs of the day. Vicky Ostwal has also made an impression, taking three wickets, two of which came in a single over.

Batting first after winning the toss, Sri Lanka’s score after 32 overs is 74/7. At present the match has been stopped due to heavy rain.

Indian team led by Yash Dhull will have the opportunity to extend the country’s record at the Under-19 Asia Cup.

Notably, India has won the U-19 Asia Cup seven times in eight editions, including a shared trophy in 2012. The team also holds the distinction of never having lost a final.

In this edition, India finished second in the group, having lost to Pakistan, before beating Bangladesh to make the final.
