New Delhi: The government has approved defence procurement proposals worth ₹2.38 lakh crore to enhance military capability, with a focus on advanced aircraft, missile systems, and strike drones.
Major Push For Defence Modernisation
The Defence Acquisition Council, chaired by Rajnath Singh, granted Acceptance of Necessity for a wide range of acquisitions across the Army, Air Force, and Coast Guard. The approvals include key platforms such as advanced aircraft, S-400 air defence systems, and strike drones, aimed at strengthening India’s overall combat readiness and firepower.
Record Approvals And Strategic Readiness
Rajnath Singh stated that the decisions would significantly enhance India’s defence preparedness and operational capability. He also noted that defence approvals and contracts in the current financial year have reached record levels, reflecting the government’s focus on rapid modernisation and strategic capability building across all armed forces.
