India lifts U19 WC for fifth time, defeats England by four wickets

Antigua, Feb 6: India won the ICC U19 World Cup for the fifth time on Saturday, defeating England in the final at the Sir Vivian Richards Stadium in North Sound, Antigua.

In the top encounter, the Yash Dhull-led squad defeated the England by four wickets. Notably, India had won the U19 World Cup four times previously, in 2000, 2008, 2012, and 2018.

Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) president Sourav Ganguly and other office bearers of the Indian cricket board posted congratulatory tweets after team’s win.’

“Congratulations to the under 19 team and the support staff and the selectors for winning the world cup in such a magnificent way ..The cash prize announced by us of 40 lakhs is a small token of appreciation but their efforts are beyond value .. magnificent stuff..,” tweeted Ganguly.
