India Open 2023: Satwiksairaj-Chirag Shetty pair pulls out due to injury

New Delhi, Jan 19: Satwiksairaj Rankireddy and Chirag Shetty, the men’s doubles defending champions, have pulled out of the Indian Open Badminton tournament due to a groin injury to Satwiksairaj.

On Thursday, the matchup for the second round was ready to begin. However, Satwiksairaj Rankireddy’s injury has ruined their season.

On Day 3 of the competition, Rasmus Gemke will face Lakshya Sen. As the World No. 3 Chinese opponent Chen Yu Fei awaits Saina Nehwal in the Women’s Singles, the Indian player will try to maintain her strong form.

In the Men’s Doubles, Krishna Garaga and Vishnuvardhan Panjala will compete. The Women’s Doubles division will feature Gayatri Gopichand and Treesa Jolly.
