New Delhi, July 10: India has reported 18,257 new cases of Covid-19, bringing the total number of active cases in the nation to 1,28,690, in the last 24 hours.

Along with the new cases, 14,553 recoveries and 42 fatalities were reported in India in the previous day. The number of new cases on Sunday is slightly lower than the number of new cases the day before (18,840).

Kerala, with 3,186 new infections, is the largest contributor to the nation’s most recent fresh caseload, followed by West Bengal (2,968), Maharashtra (2,760), and Tamil Nadu (2,671).

Meanwhile, the Covid-19 vaccines Corbevax and Covaxin have been approved for use in children between the ages of five and twelve by the NTAGI’s Standing Technical Sub-Committee (STSC) on Friday. The choice to include these vaccines in the vaccination campaign, however, was not made.

The STSC meeting on June 16 evaluated the data for Corbevax by Biological E and Covaxin by Bharat Biotech for kids between the ages of five and twelve, and members determined that the vaccines can be advised for use in kids.
