New Delhi, Jan 29: India’s daily Covid curve showed a slight improvement today, with 2.35 lakh instances reported, down about 6.2% from the previous day.

The country reported 871 deaths, including 258 Kerala backlog deaths and 613 new casualties.

So far, the virus has claimed the lives of 4.93 lakh individuals in the country. The 613 new deaths reported today are the most in a single day since the third wave began.

The active currently accounts for 4.91 percent of all infections, while the Covid-19 recovery rate in the United States has dropped to 93.89 percent. In the week ending January 26, 400 districts had a positivity rating of more than 10%.

Covid-19 immunisation coverage in India has reached 164.04 crore doses. Ninety-five percent of India’s adult population has received the first dose of Covid vaccination, with 74% having received the full dose.

At 3 p.m. today, Union Health Minister Mansukh Mandaviya will virtually evaluate the Covid situation, public health preparedness, and response actions being implemented in Bihar, Odisha, Jharkhand, West Bengal, and Chhattisgarh in the context of the Omicron strain of SARS-CoV-2.

Earlier on Friday, Mandaviya emphasised e-Sanjeevani, teleconsultation, monitoring home isolation, and raising RTPCR in states reporting lower percentage testing during a high-level meeting with Southern states and UT’s Health Ministers.
