Indian climber Narayan Iyer dies on Mt Kanchenjunga while ascending

Kathmandu, May 6: An Indian climber died while ascending Mt Kanchenjunga on Friday morning, according to expedition organisers.

Nepal | Indian climber Narayan Iyer died on Mt. Kanchenjunga, the 3rd highest peak in the world while ascending today morning, the expedition agency Pioneer Adventure informed. This is the first casualty of the spring season on Mt. Kanchenjunga.

According to Pasang Sherpa, Chairman of Pioneer Adventure, Narayanan Iyer of Maharashtra, India, died at 8,200 metres while attempting to reach the summit of the world’s third highest peak. Sherpa went on to say that the event occurred when the 52-year-old climber refused to descend after becoming ill near the summit. Sherpa stated that his climbing guide had repeatedly requested the climber to descend, but Iyer refused.
