New Delhi: The Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) has taken up the case of an Indian student, Neelam Shinde, who was hospitalised in the United States after an accident. The Indian government is working with US authorities to expedite the visa process for her father, Tanaji Shinde, so he can visit his daughter during the medical emergency.
According to sources cited by ANI, the US administration is reviewing the formalities for early visa approval for the applicant’s family.
NCP MP Supriya Sule Appeals for Help
The matter gained attention after Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) leader Supriya Sule made a public appeal for urgent assistance.
“Her father, Tanaji Shinde, from Satara, Maharashtra, India, urgently needs to visit his daughter due to a medical emergency. Tanaji Shinde has applied for an urgent visa to the USA and requires assistance,” Sule posted on X (formerly Twitter).
She urged External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar to intervene and help facilitate the process for the emergency visa issuance.
MEA Assures Swift Action
Following Sule’s request, the MEA promptly engaged with US officials to fast-track the visa procedure.
Officials have confirmed that the case is under review, and efforts are being made to ensure the visa is granted at the earliest so that Tanaji Shinde can be with his daughter during this critical time.
