New Delhi, Dec.27: The data issued by the Union Ministry of Health and Family Welfare on Monday showed that the total number of instances of the Omicron strain in India has risen to 578.
Delhi reported 142 cases while 142 cases were detected in Maharashtra. They were followed by 57 cases in Kerala, 49 in Gujarat and 43 in Rajasthan. The total number of discharged Omicron patients stands at 151.
Meanwhile, 6,531 new Covid-19 cases and 7,141 recoveries have been reported in the last 24 hours. The active caseload currently stands at 75,841, with a 98.40 percent recovery rate.
According to some reports, people over 60 years of age with related comorbidities, as well as those who received their second dose nine months prior, will likely be the first to receive the coronavirus vaccination booster or ‘precautionary’ dosage.
