Mumbai: Hundreds of passengers, including children, were stranded at Mumbai airport early Saturday after an IndiGo flight to Doha, Qatar, was delayed for nearly five hours due to a technical issue with the aircraft. The flight, scheduled to depart at 3:55 am, left passengers frustrated as they waited inside the plane and were eventually deboarded and taken to the immigration waiting area.

According to passengers, the delay impacted approximately 250 to 300 travelers. One passenger, traveling with his wife and child, told NDTV, “We were not allowed to deboard the plane because immigration was already completed. Only after pushing back, we were taken to a holding area.”

Another stranded passenger highlighted the chaos at the airport, stating that neither food nor water was provided to passengers during the long wait. “It’s chaotic. People are worried about missing work, and children are exhausted,” he said.

Despite the inconvenience, there was no official statement from IndiGo at the time of the incident. However, the airline responded to complaints on social media, acknowledging the delay due to a technical issue and expressing regret for the disruption. In response to a complaint on X (formerly Twitter), IndiGo said, “We sincerely regret the inconvenience caused.”

Similar Incidents with SpiceJet Flight

The incident follows another disruption earlier in the day when passengers of a SpiceJet flight from Delhi to Darbhanga in Bihar were left stranded after the airline canceled the flight just five minutes before boarding. Passengers expressed anger, claiming that frequent cancellations have plagued this route for the past few months.

SpiceJet has yet to issue an official statement regarding the cancellations on the Delhi-Darbhanga route.
