Dumka, Dec.1: Excruciating cold weather has led to the death of a drunken man in Dumka district.
Police have recovered the body of Mulbin Soren (35) from a barren field in Pandan Pahadi village under Jama police station of the district on Wednesday.
The officer-in-charge (OC) of Jama police station, Jitendra Kumar, said that the deceased belonged to Ranga village under Masaliya police station.
“Prima facie it appears that he (deceased) was in an inebriated condition and failed to move ahead to reach his home last night,” the OC said, adding he might have died of cold exposure.
The body of the deceased has been sent to the Phulo Jhano Medical College and Hospital (PJMCH) for postmortem and an UD case has been lodged in this connection.
It is to be known that winter in Jharkhand is expected to be very troublesome at this time of the year. Cold and foggy weather is expected to worsen in the following days. From December 2 to 4, there is a chance of cloud cover and rain in various regions, including Ranchi district. The cold will rise and the temperature will rapidly plummet after the rain stops, according to the Meteorological Department.
