Ramgarh, May 15: A deer in search of water got injured and died after treatment. The deer wandering in search of water had reached Kurse village in Bhadani Nagar on Sunday.  After seeing the people here, he got distracted and started running hither and thither.  But everywhere he was seeing only humans, due to which he was very nervous.

According to local villagers, he was doing high jumps.  In this sequence, sometimes he used to climb on the boundary wall and sometimes on the roof. He also fell many times, due to which he got hurt on his head.  After being very tired, when the deer became exhausted, the villagers informed the forest department while giving it water.  Department’s SBO Sunil Kumar reached the spot and took the injured deer to Kuju First Class Veterinary Hospital for treatment, where it was given medicine and an injection.

After this, the deer died while returning to Patratu Forest Range Office at Bhurkunda. The department’s travelling medical officer Dr Pankaj Kumar did the post-mortem of the deer and found heart attack as the cause of death.  After that, the deer was buried in the forest area premises.  RFO AK Chowdhary, Dr Pankaj Kumar, Anil Kumar, Santosh Sharma, Brajesh Panda, Lagnu Ram, Shankar Ram, Sumit Toppo, Rohit Manjhi, Mandal Manjhi etc were present on this occasion.

A Kotra deer had also died after falling into a well in the Gram Panchayat of Gola block on May 8. The villagers had informed the forest department about this. The villagers had said that the deer was trying to escape towards the forest by scaling the wall.  The deer fell into the well as the well was adjacent to the wall.
