Ranchi, Feb 1: Schools, parents and children have welcomed the decision of the State Disaster Management Authority of opening the schools in Ranchi from classes 9 to 12.
During a rough survey across the district, the parents opined that online classes are of no match with the offline classes and the situation of Covid getting normalised in the state was just to open the classes so as to increase the efficiency of the students.
DAV Alok Principal Dr Ashok Kumar said that the corona infection is everlasting and all of us have to learn to live with it. The decision of the opening of the schools is a piece of great news for both the school and the children.
“We are discussing with the parents and most probably the school will be reopened for offline classes from next Monday which will also give us the time to gear up with the new guidelines of the state government for opening the schools for offline classes,” Kumar said.
“The opening of schools will also boost up the vaccination among the 15 to 17 age group which will boost the preparedness of the schools in conducting offline classes,” Kumar added.
“Exams will be conducted in offline mode, but surely some rules or guidelines will be issued from the CBSE or the state government for giving relaxation to the students in the examination,” Kumar further said.
DAV Kapildev Principal MK Sinha said that the school will be going through all the guidelines that are being issued by the government and after due discussion with the parents the offline classes will be started.
Surendranath Centenary Principal Samita Sinha said that the school is fully prepared to conduct offline classes but the decision to re-open the offline classes will be taken after going through all the guidelines as the safety and security of the students is of prime importance.
Schools, colleges and universities were allowed to reopen in Jharkhand from Tuesday as the Covid situation has improved.
Schools are to reopen for all classes in 17 districts. In the rest, seven districts — Ranchi, East Singhbhum, Chatra, Deoghar, Saraikela, Simdega and Bokaro — which have a higher number of Covid cases, schools will reopen for classes 9 to 12.
The decisions were taken on Monday at a meeting of the State Disaster Management Authority, chaired by Chief Minister Hemant Soren.
