Ranchi, Mar 8: Chief Minister Hemant Soren on Tuesday along with Minister Joba Manjhi released the ‘Setu Education Curriculum’ at a programme organized on the occasion of International Women’s Day by the Department of Women, Child Development and Social Security at Project Bhawan.

Setu education course is set to begin in 17 districts of the state. Under this, girls of age group 14 to 20 that live in further areas from schools will be connected with education from 8th to 10th standard. The CM said that encouraging women is one of the priorities of the government and that it is determined to walk in steps with the ‘aadhi aabadi’.

The Chief Minister said that work is being done to empower women through various schemes. Action plan is being prepared so that all those women that want to become independent can do so. The government is ready to give them all possible help needed. The CM further continued, “Stories of women being harassed in both urban and rural areas can be heard even in present times. It is our responsibility to change such a mindset. Only then can we move forward. Special attention is needed in rural areas, where women that are compelled to lead a depressed life can be reached and helped.

CM Soren said that since the creation of humans, women have played important roles both directly and indirectly. The lines of development were drawn at different times. People were divided into groups, classes, castes and religions. Everyone went on growing with their society and culture. Some stayed behind. The women who were left behind were pushed back further, but like men, women can do everything.

Women and Child Development Minister Joba Manjhi said that today women are taking part in every field with great enthusiasm. There is a need for women to walk side by side with men. Many schemes are being successfully operated in Jharkhand that help women do so. It is time to choose the plans according to the need and move forward. The Tejaswini project is being implemented in 17 districts. Around 10.89 lakh girls have joined the 12,800 club. The government is continuously working to uplift women.

The Chief Minister provided Aadhar kits to rural women to help them receive benefits of schemes. Chief Secretary Sukhdev Singh, Principal Secretary to Chief Minister Rajiv Arun Ekka, Principal Secretary Avinash Kumar, Secretary to Chief Minister Vinay Kumar Choubey, Director Social Welfare A. Dode, World Bank representatives, women of Sakhi Mandal and others were present on the occasion.
