Mumbai, April 15: Delhi Capitals physio Patrick Farhart has tested positive for Covid-19 on Friday.

“Delhi Capitals physio Patrick Farhart has been tested positive for COVID-19. He is being closely monitored by the DC Medical Team at the moment,” the official IPL release said.

According to the sources, the players are awaiting the results of their tests. The team was scheduled to practise today at 5 p.m., but the players have been asked to stay in the hotel for the time being. The Delhi Capitals’ next encounter is against Royal Challengers Bangalore on Saturday.

During the two-month IPL, the COVID threat has grown as cases have gradually increased. Last year, during the peak of the second wave in May, the tournament had to be halted and was later completed in the United Arab Emirates. To counteract the threat of Covid-19, the BCCI is hosting the elite T20 tournament at four stadiums across Maharashtra. The play-offs, on the other hand, are expected to take place outside of the state. Mumbai, Navi Mumbai, and Pune are hosting league games.

Notably, the Delhi Capitals have played four games so far, winning two of them, and are now ranked seventh in the 10-team league. From August 2015 to July 2019, Farhart was the Indian men’s cricket team’s lead physiotherapist. He stepped down after India’s campaign in the 2019 ICC World Cup came to an end.
