New Delhi, Feb 12: The Indian Railways Catering and Tourism Corporation (IRCTC) plans to resume providing meals on all trains from February 14.
The IRCTC has decided to start serving cooked meals aboard all trains as the number of cases of Covid-19 appears to be dropping across the country, according to the Railways.
The IRCTC personnel, on the other hand, shall follow the Covid-19 safety requirements and practises. Long-distance passengers will be relieved by the decision, as it will allow them to have fresh meals during their journey.
As part of the national transporter’s safety precautions in response to the epidemic, the Railways had stopped providing culinary services on trains. From March 2020, the measures were in force. The services have been gradually restored by the IRCTC.
According to a statement from the Indian Railways, lunch services have been resumed on 80 percent of trains by January of this year. The remaining 20% of trains will begin serving meals by February 14, according to the announcement.
Meal services on premium trains including the Rajdhani, Shatabdi, and Duronto were resumed in December of last year.
